Prof. Huiru (Jane) Zheng

From Data to Decisions: Computational Intelligence in Biosciences and Personal Health

Bio:

Prof. Huiru (Jane) Zheng is a Professor of Computer Science with the School of Computing, Ulster University. Prof. Zheng is a Senior Member of IEEE, IEEE UK & Ireland Systems, Mam and Cybernetics Chapter Chair, and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is currently leading the Data Analytics and Systems Theme in AI Research Centre at Ulster University.  Within her broad interests in machine learning, Prof. Zheng has research focus and expertise in integrative data analysis, complex network analysis, pattern recognition, and their applications to biology, medicine, and healthcare.

Her research has been supported by the European Commission, COST Action, UK Research Councils EPSRC and BBSRC, Royal Society, Innovate UK, Invest NI, Department of Economy, Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) and various industries.  She has co-authored over 400 research papers.  She serves on the editorial board of several international journals, and has served as co-chairs at IEEE International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedicine (BIBM) in 2014, 2018, 2024; the Collaborative European Research Conference (CERC) in 2020, 2021 and 2023; Irish Signals and Systems conference 2024 and the UK Workshop on Computational Intelligence 2024.
